Sitefinity® CMS 15.4 Update is Here—Built for What's Next
Ease extensibility of your CMS with comprehensive REST APIs.
Sitefinity gives development teams flexibility in how content and data are made available to websites, applications and other systems. Its RESTful services API uses the OData protocol and supports multiple web services, allowing teams to configure different services for different applications and integration scenarios.
Developers can control which supported content types and fields are exposed through each service, helping ensure consuming applications get access to the content they need without exposing more than necessary. Access permissions can also be configured to support different application and security requirements.
Sitefinity's provider-based architecture adds another layer of flexibility for organizations with more specialized requirements, giving developers options to extend platform capabilities and adapt how data and functionality are implemented as their architecture evolves.
Use Sitefinity APIs to make CMS content available to websites, applications and other systems that need to consume or manage it. Sitefinity RESTful services use the OData protocol and can expose built-in and custom content types through configurable APIs.
Development teams can create separate services for different applications and control which content types and fields are exposed, helping them provide access to the right content for each integration scenario.
Sitefinity also supports GraphQL for applications that need a flexible way to query content. When standard API capabilities don't cover a specific requirement, developers can create custom OData endpoints and expose application-specific logic through HTTP services.
Sitefinity automatically generates API documentation for configured services, making it easier for developers to understand and work with the available endpoints.
Sitefinity gives .NET development teams familiar tools for extending the CMS and connecting it with other applications. Developers can use native and Fluent APIs for custom development, as well as the Sitefinity REST SDK when applications need to work with CMS content over REST.
Sitefinity web services also support authenticated application-to-application access using OAuth2 and Access Keys, giving development teams secure options for connecting trusted systems and services.
For organizations with established .NET expertise and applications, this provides multiple ways to extend Sitefinity and integrate it into the wider technology environment.
Sitefinity can serve as the content management backend for digital experiences built with different frontend technologies. Development teams can use decoupled ASP.NET Core or Next.js renderers, or access Sitefinity content and services programmatically through REST APIs and SDKs.
Sitefinity supports decoupled ASP.NET Core development, giving teams the flexibility to manage content in Sitefinity while building the frontend experience with ASP.NET Core. Existing ASP.NET Core applications can also be connected to Sitefinity using the Sitefinity ASP.NET Core Renderer.
For JavaScript-based experiences, Sitefinity also supports a standalone Next.js Renderer and provides tools for accessing Sitefinity content from modern frontend applications.
This flexibility enables organizations to centrally manage content in Sitefinity while delivering it to websites, applications and other digital experiences using the frontend technologies that best fit their architecture. It also makes it easier to introduce Sitefinity into an existing technology environment without requiring every digital experience to be rebuilt around a single frontend framework.
